Whether President Jammeh will win the next Elections in the most flawless manner is no point of contention but a fact that cannot be overlooked or disputed, unless it's the blind leading the blind with a leper as the driver trying to prove a point, Let me explain it takes more than balls to announce that you will not be campaigning in any presidential election yet very certain of an over whelming victory, This is not the first time such an announcement has been made, but whats factual and relevant is, should I say after mastering the political dispensation in place, anyone can make such an assertion given the right circumstances.

This is not based on magic or anything of that nature. The realities are that the system in place once you reach the highest peak it's almost impossible to be dislodged from that position mainly due to loyalty and political immaturity and the fact that with a small population of less than a million eligible voters, a multi party system is not the most suitable or feasible form of political dispensation to be installed and this goes back to my reflections of how the Republic should have been well thought out or squashed and advocating for a TWO part state, The opposition proposed alliance is a typical example. As of Present I would like to Assume the UDP and APRC, anyone interest on running as an independent the choice is all your's but the two parties mentioned as an example are state sponsored political Parties and Bureaus. The resemblance will be more like the republicans and democrats but check this out the quickest and fastest way to educate Gambians about the role of the voter and what the oppositions role is if it were an all inclusive organization other wise it's this mickey mouse show that has turned into a nightmare no one can comprehend.

My reasoning for this is simple, since the inception of political parties in The Gambia it has been a constant struggle for the mainstream youth and educated elites who always felt they were being underhanded and if you look to this date it seems to be the same story as Toubab1020 likes to say promotions are not based on Merit but convenience and interest.

Kukoi stood for elections and had 12 votes and felt Insulted so he decided to wage war against his oppressors well perceived oppressors that is. Its not Just Kukoi Samba Sanyang, sedia Jatta and company suffered the same Fate too, after becoming Gambia's finest elites at the time, they were never considered based on merit and that's the Gambian story behind this piece,for all to be aware of the fact that our problems run deeper than they seem. Gambia is too small of a country for a perceived credible opposition to emerge due to family Ties, For instance sedia Jatta as we all know him was involved in radical politics in the early 70s way before some of us were even born as a member of the Kwame Nkuruma foundation and a community activist Right! He and Halifa helped initiate the PDOIS ideology in 1986, The chief of Wuli a PPP loyalist Kebba Jatta, Sedia's Brother never wanted him to join an opposition group so I hope you're getting a clearer understanding of the Problems associated with the Opposition or any Opposition that is to emerge, Historically all the way to the Njie's and Jatta's similar problems have been associated, where as two blood brother would even consider opposing each other and not in a credible and acceptable manner. The ties that bind are too close for anything significant or worthy of really opposing.

Sedia's polling record prior to winning the seat was indeed truly poor but he remained steadfast and persisted, In 1992 he won only 5.2 percent of the vote and in 1996 2.9% unlike Kukoi he never picked up a gun to overthrow the State, he ought to be admired for that, Sedia is very principled by nature and quite possibly the reason the People of Wuli decided to give him a chance in 1997 after the demise of the PPP and everyone was looking for a new identity, Principled yes the PDOIS team is and that's possibly the reason for their arrogance, Halifa explicitly stated that he could have had any position in the Jammeh Administration and am pretty sure Sedia feels the same way too and these are just facts, Sedia is the Leader and seems to be the PDOIS power house simply because he is the only one thus far since taking the seat has retained it despite overwhelming APRC popularity

Most think PDOIS started in 1987 but just to be fair to the younger generation I think its only fair to give the whole story, PDOIS became the political party PDOIS is in 1987 but was in existence since the late 70s, started of kinda like the fools you see in cyberspace, Newpaper agents today, political analyst tomorrow and before you know it the emergence of pressure group and recently human rights groups , They are all goddamn liars, every single one of them is a politician wanna be in disguise.

Let me explain PDOIS started it's cyclostyled newspaperin 1987 simultaneously with its new found identity but they are also known to be behind the clandestine and freely distributed occasional publication "VOICE OF THE PEOPLE" and this is where I think their acceptance of the Liars in cyberspace emerged, they are the only Gambians that have not disowned these terrorist, they actually share certain characteristics for I will explain. 70s to 80 there was not a single newspaper worthy of even mentioning, all the way to the 90s the establishment of the Daily observer by Kenneth Y Best. Independent news outlet were really not in existence and the only printed material was politically motivated, basically the Politicians had newspapers to further their hidden agendas.

From the Vanguard Newspaper owned and operated by MB Jones and KW foon critics of the colonialist administration at the time, all the way to Foroyaa Newspaper, the trend seems to continue even in the 60s to 70s and the 80s the only thing newspapers were notable for was their constant and sustained attack on government ministers and prominent politicians. I think this is one of the problems with the Media in Gambia today it has no direction and it's purpose is skewed mainly due to the nature of the operators and their ultimate goals. Of couse we all know the role of the media and what it should play but conflict of interest is what seems to plague the Gambian Media, No one can Identify with what a Free media is and thus the reason for the hatred of independent newspapers like the Daily Observer mainly due to their independence and ultimate goals of the institutions.

Let me explain once again for starters it was the Gambia Onward that helped bring down Fafa Mbai , Ya'll all know the Legacy Ticks Manneh left behind author of the Torch Newpaper, He brought down MC cham and LK Saho, note in 1986 about the same time organizations deemed clandestine where trying to find a new identity.

PDOIS's history emerged from a clandestine marxist Pan African Socialist organization the Peoples movement for independence against Neo Colonialist and Capitalism in the Gambia aka Redstar, For those who think Sir Dawda just called PDOIS a socialist and communist organization based on their name alone is mistaken, their ideology was completely against CAPITALISM in the first place, their run in with the Regime of Jawara started somewhere around late 70s to early 1984, the first ever sedition charges ever to be proferred against a so called Journalist or should I say politicians was meted to the members Halifa Sallah, Sam Sarr, Amie Sillah, Adama Bah and Momodou Saho for publishing a banned political periodical "The VOICE OF THE PEOPLE" which they were all discharged so for your info Kitab, get a grip of reality and never advocate for what you don't understand meaning the faces on your special ICONIC avatar.

In 1987 Pdois had 5 candidates contesting the elections and were all defeated and so was the case in 1992, all 14 candidates were defeated. I have been saying this for a while but I hope ya'll getting a better understanding of my views, for technically speaking and as I have been saying Pdois cannot be viewed as a Political Party, it is more like a political movement and has no impact what soever in Gambian Politics thus far. With due respect they were one of the few parties that never denounced the coup and I hope most also understand why I say that the Jammeh coup was a peoples coup.

The 1981 Coup was also a Peoples coup I give Kukoi the toughest time of his life becuase he is a very stupid leader and thats the reason his attempted coup succeeded and later failed, The economy in 1980 was in shambles not to mention the "MARALL" drought that hit the cities and provinces, frustrations mounted amongst the ranks and files, not only civilians but elements of the security services were also dissatisfied and involved in the 1981 uprising. All we talk about is the 1981 coup but the tell tell signs started in 1980 which was foild but not contained, Everyone was involved in the 1981 coup including the members of the Banned GSRP at the time Kukoi samba Sanyang and his famous notorious buddy Che Yassin Secka, the leader of the NLP. MOJA's hands were all over it too hence they all ran migrated and moved to SWEDEN after the 1981 coup. Both MOJAG and GSRP were declared clandestine organizations and banned in the early 80s, right along with THE VOICE OF THE FUTURE, historically according narratives they were actually all involved in acts of political Vandalism and open talk of violent political change which materialized finally in 1981. Kukoi was right when he stated Gambians cannot blame him for the 1981 coup, it was more of a PEOPLES COUP every TOM DICK AND HARRY was involved or played a helping hand and this is WHY I think Jammeh must be allowed to rule all the way to 2020............................................Peace

He he! Really, I dont know what you're aiming at in this article. A lot of info. But you concluded by saying "this is why I think Jammeh must be allowed to rule all the way to 2020". I dont quite get the connections there..

I like the part with Kitab and Toubab1020. Hilarious! Are these your fiercest challengers in here? Are they giving you the toughest time just like you did to Kukoi? Anyway I like the piece it is funny and digestible even though it does not make much sense. so typical of Moe. We all know you have talent and that you could have been a great writer if you were not this "yabateh". You should have used more of your time to study your books instead of chasing your opponents around in Bantaba.

MOE,you have had a very good sleep and are refreshed,what a good posting a clear and well reasoned piece of work,I am impressed,please continue to be in refreshed mode,you have much more in depth knowledge of the Gambia political system than I,you must have access to a vast library of information.BUT IT MUST BE NOTED that H.E. has done wrong things that have impacted on the lives of many people,and is still continuing so to do,if reports that I have access to are accurate,as you know I am only an observer and commentator.Sometimes unwelcome

"Simple is good" & I strongly dislike politics. You cannot defend the indefensible.

Senegambia, My opponents have a big problem nowadays "Barkeh Sheikh". and I ain't kidding either.

"this is why I think Jammeh must be allowed to rule all the way to 2020".

I said he should stay till 2020 to let time pass meanwhile all the terrorist would have died natural deaths due to old age, Just picture a Gambia with Matthew , Bokarr, Dr Saine,and all those psychotic elements in cyberspace. In 1981 some say it was 600 others claim it was 800 some even claim it was more than a 1000 that died over similar circumstances. The need for a change that no one really advocated for, it's being perpetrated right now and I see the same elements in cyberspace advocating for a change by all means necessary but none will answer my question, I left everything open ended and will defend everything I wrote if tested , This is part 1, watch out for part 2........................................Peace

Thanks for the Edit, Moe. Initially, your piece sounded incongruous . It's still lacking though, but "moe " edits might, just might, lend it congruity. Happy edits, and until then............LL!

"Naatch" by "Chuunehs" Pssssssss, I doubt that, all they are doing is delaying the progress of the Nation, What they are up to is not sustainable by any means for it is clandestine in it's very nature, nothing to boost the democratization process or principle. He won when they rendered themselves unworthy, No one can shake his house bro, tremors and cracks thats about that can happen, all you need is "cement and Suuuf" to RAAHH the cracks..........................Peace

Moe MY POINTS OF OBSERVATIONS ARE THAT;

1. TIMES HAVE CHANGED AND THE PEOPLE ARE DIFFERENT. YOUR REFLECTIONS OF THE POLITICAL EVENTS IS SUBJECTIVE AND WITH VERY SERIOUS FLAWS OR DISTORTIONS; INCLINED AS PRAISE SINGING KIND OF POLITICS TO PROMOTE JAMMEH

2. I DON'T THINK YOU KNEW THE COUNTRY BETTER THAN US AND I THINK YOUR TACTICS IS JUST A SMEARING CAMPAIGN OR CARICATURE; WHICH SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY (AS YOU CAN SPEW WHATEVER YOU WANT IN THIS FORUM)

3.KUKOI'S POLITICAL STRUGGLES BLESSED AND INSPIRED JAMMEH TO SUCCEED AS A COUP LEADER; THROUGH BIRTH OF THE GAMBIA NATIONAL ARMY

4. SARJO BAYANG "Although president Jammeh came to power by coup, he never wants to be reminded of that." MORE FROM DAILY NEWS President Jammeh Has to Admit Failure of Vision 2020

5. IF PDOIS IS NOT A "POLITICAL PARTY" AND SEEN AS A "POLITICAL MOVEMENT", THEN THERE ARE NO POLITICAL PARTIES AND CREDIBLE POLITICIANS IN THE COUNTRY

6. YOUR ATTACK ON HALIFA, SEDIA AND PDOIS IS NOTHING; AS PDOIS HAS STRONG LEADERS AND WELL ARTICULATED VISIONS FOR THE MOTHERLAND; BEYOND REASONABLE DOUBT

7. AS A FAILED STATE WHAT PDOIS ADVOCATES FOR THE GAMBIA OUR HOMELAND;

"PDOIS would want the people to recall that Gambia has been led by 2 Heads of state for the past 45 years. In the next 15 years those who were born in 1965 will be 60 years. It is clear that unless we break the current trend of self perpetuating rule two heads of state will lead the Gambia for 60 years.

As we face another election cycle it is the duty of every sovereign Gambian who is 18 years old and above to reflect on the state of the Gambia after 45 years of Nationhood and ask whether this is the same Gambia, with its growing poverty, redundancies, growth of drug lords and contraction of liberty that should continue to be up to the year 2020 and beyond.

It is now time for each Gambian to sit and reflect on the type of Gambia one wants to be a citizen of and the role one is to play in shaping the destiny of one’s country and people.

This is the challenge of 2011. Are we up to the challenge? History the keen recorder of events has its eyes and ears open. The future will tell the story. Our children and children’s children will be the judge."

"Moe MY POINTS OF OBSERVATIONS ARE THAT;

Kobo First and foremost I don't subscribe to the APRC and not here to promote anyone, what am here for if it's not obvious is to state facts!!!

"2. I DON'T THINK YOU KNEW THE COUNTRY BETTER THAN US AND I THINK YOUR TACTICS IS JUST A SMEARING CAMPAIGN OR CARICATURE; WHICH SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY (AS YOU CAN SPEW WHATEVER YOU WANT IN THIS FORUM)"

Barkeh Sheikh!! I know enough to put anyone on check in the Gambian polarized political atmosphere Be it Khalifa or Sedia, "Su Casa Mi Casa" Gambia is for all Gambians irrespective of identity, I am NOT above the law on this forum, maybe I should start telling you every time I get checked. NO ONE IS ABOVE SCRUTINY from my observation, Gambians are just snitches and liars if something does not go their way they scheme up a plan to make up stories to cry foul play.

"3.KUKOI'S POLITICAL STRUGGLES BLESSED AND INSPIRED JAMMEH TO SUCCEED AS A COUP LEADER; THROUGH BIRTH OF THE GAMBIA NATIONAL ARMY"

That is total nonsense, incompetence and intolerance not to mention unfair treatment within the Military and Army is what led to Jammeh , total dissatisfaction from every quarter and walk of life.

"4. SARJO BAYANG "Although president Jammeh came to power by coup, he never wants to be reminded of that." MORE FROM DAILY NEWS President Jammeh Has to Admit Failure of Vision 2020"

Look vision 2020 can be a reality if we stayed focus on the goal , what are you Kobo gonna do to help attain vision 2020, I know for a fact I will play my role for damn sure, and so will many...

"5. IF PDOIS IS NOT A "POLITICAL PARTY" AND SEEN AS A "POLITICAL MOVEMENT", THEN THERE ARE NO POLITICAL PARTIES AND CREDIBLE POLITICIANS IN THE COUNTRY"

Absolutely wrong Kobo, UDP may be disorganized and lack of focus but there are legitimate politicians the likes of OJ whose legitimacy cannot be contested, Of course PDOIS resembles a political movement instead of a political party I don't have to corroborate that fact.

"6. YOUR ATTACK ON HALIFA, SEDIA AND PDOIS IS NOTHING; AS PDOIS HAS STRONG LEADERS AND WELL ARTICULATED VISIONS FOR THE MOTHERLAND; BEYOND REASONABLE DOUBT"

I am not attacking Halifa neither am I attacking Sedia, If what they were engaged in is Politically acceptable and reasonable based on factual statements uttered, there is absolutely nothing to worry about, Nothing was made up, it's all factual. If you have reason to believe that what I stated was a direct attack to the DUO and deem it BAD which am assuming is the reason you feel they are being attacked , consider asking them how factual the statements are and if based on TRUTH consider this not to be an attack KOBO....................................Peace

My point exactly they are more of a political MOVEMENT !!!!!! out for it's self sustainance, Look Kobo, PDOIS can try to play this righteous part and progressive leader but the facts refute that bro bro, The constitution referendum was over whelmingly supported by Gambians a 70 percent Margin right and when decree 89 was introduced banning all political parties except PDOIS and PDP what were they thinking and what did PDOIS do or say about that????????? I guess their conscience won't let them or they did not know the meaning of what's acceptable and whats not, it was kool to be the only POLITICAL PARTY right??? whilst the PPP, NCP, GPP and all or most politicians were banned from participating in politics, advantage or disadvantage and HOW DID IT MATERIALIZE??. ............................Peace
