FARMERS TO BE PAID AFTER THE AU SUMMIT
The SoS for Agriculture, Yankuba Touray, who is also the national mobilizer of APRC, has said that farmers will be paid after the AU Summit. He made this remark at a rally held in Baddibu Salikene in the North Bank Division on Saturday 27th May.
The APRC national mobilizer had told the rally that the government of the Gambia has sent two Secretaries of State abroad purposely to seek funds which would be used to pay the credits owed to farmers by the groundnut buying agents. He, however, said payment can only be effected after the AU Summit.
When the SoS made these remarks, most farmers at the rally did not hear the message clearly and they got closer to him and asked what he said. When they confirmed the message, most of the attendees dispersed.

Blimy! Why cant yankuba shut up and give us a break. We have heard enough lies from you about farmers being paid on date so and so... Enough mate. We want our elected MPs to come and tell us something not you anymore.
No body ever elected and please take a seat. This is an issue for public officials. |

This is indeed a sad development,How can a son of the soil think like?What will the farmers do b4 the summit?How will they feed their families?Oh God I wish the summit was last week so that they can be paid this week.
We can all see the evils of military rule? I am sure when I come to talk about the coup in the Gambia and what role Nigeria played,then we all will see how evil the greedy Nigerian military had injected into our young boys(see the History coloum).Jawara's mistakes.
We have not yet seen all .As long as they stay in control,we will remain in hardship after hardship. |
