I am Now Fit, says Opposition-GMC Leader

Wednesday, March 16, 2011

“Compatriots!
I salute you in the name of peace and love.
I would like to apoligise for my absence which led to legitimate questions about my whereabouts. I understand that from the first day that I offered myself for public service, I ceased to be a concern for my family alone.
A public figure is like a public commodity; everyone has a stake in it, and each stakeholder can lay both individual and collective claim to it. I read no adverse meanings into your right to know about my circumstances, it is a legitimate question. I will offer explaination, something you are entitled to.
In doing so, I am equally aware that as a public figure, I should not expect everyone to be necessarily complementary of me. There should and ought to exist well meaning Gambians who may disagree with me, including my explanations, or some who may perhaps even intentionally distort my views out of context.
This is a price to pay if one opts for public service. What we say or do as public figures should be subject to microscopic scrutiny by all and sundry for in this exercise, we are kept on our toes to remain true to the ideals we proclaim for the public good. There is no better alternative. I applaud all of you for standing steadfast on this principle. Keep us, the public figures accountable, or you would fail yourselves, us and posterity.
The past period was very eventful for me. I have been, in substance engrossed with national and regional duties, among others. GMC is a young Party. We are doing our best to make our promises for our country come true. This involves a lot of expenses both at the home front and internationally.
I am so far the exclusive financier of the Party, a rather unsatisfactory situation. The danger in one person funding a political party is that it carries the potential to kill internal democracy, as is the case in many countries in our region.
I am aware of this, and while Allah bears me witness that I shall not fall prey to this, the precedent so volatile could be subject to abuse without adequate safeguards. I have been making efforts round the clock, strenuously to create the necessary legitimate avenues to get our planned activities off the ground, without which GMC would not be able to operate anywhere.
That is why if we form a government, I will ensure that all political parties are funded by the state to some degree, including mandatory payment of a number of key party offices and staff level, of course establishing clear legal guidelines to prevent it’s abuse by those who may see State political party funding as a conduit to live off the back of the public.
Meanwhile, I was also hospitalized again in connection with injuries I had sustained three years ago, and had to compulsory slow down consequent to medical advice. I am glad to report that, all praises due to Allah, I am now fit as fiddle again.
I understand that the demands of the time are fierce, and the challenges mounting. However, I ask you to have faith that I shall never abandon Gambians. My relentless passion for our collective wellbeing is one that if necessary I am prepared to die for. I am ready to do all within my limits, working together with you all, to achieve the national goals we set for ourselves. Like you all, I know the variables on the ground. But I am also realist. I know that the stakes and the odds are TOUGH for 2011, and my candid view is that we (all of us) have not done enough to reap the fruits in 2011.
Change does not come by itself or by yearning for it, nor does it come by hoping that it shall. It requires the putting into operation concrete and practical actions.
It is fair to say that most of those required actions have been consciously neglected by our collective will. It is fair to say that political party leaders should not be expected to perform miracles by themselves without the required full practical support from the public. I cite the case of GMC. Two years after our founding, aside a barrage of criticisms and unrealistic expectations from some, we have not received a single practical help or funding from any single Gambian or non Gambian to date.
How do you expect us to grow if you do not help us? Many as of our National Secretariat, branch offices, structures and staff, they never bother to ask how on earth we going to pay for all these? The last time I checked no one asked how is GMC doing financially, or how would it finance Election 2011? Manna does not fall from the sky for us. I am not a wealthy person. With adequate resources, and your support and help, GMC can and shall deliver change. Make no mistake about it.
Let me state that I am not eternal but GMC is. The ideals that inspired the formation of GMC shall outlive all of us, and it is to those ideals that I urge you to rally around, not the person of Mai fatty. I am a small tiny fly in the equation. The Gambia is more than me, and GMC is bigger than me. Let us not allow ourselves the luxury of futile distraction. Each Gambian where ever you may be has a role to play. If you play that role regardless of your place of abode, and commit yourself to the triumph of national interest, the cumulative effect would be radically overwhelming.
GMC is peopled by ordinary Gambians who believe in the justice of our cause, but most or nearly all of whom, as much as they would like, are incapable of economic support. GMC is not Mai Fatty: it belongs to The Gambian people.
There are times when the leadership is confronted by militants for effective action or national tour. Such would be impaired due to lack of resources. Notwithstanding, we are very proud of what we have achieved over a year and a half. We can do more and we will do more with your help. We sacrifice our all for the public good with legendry pride, forgoing a lot of our desires so that a generation of Gambians would live in freedom, dignity and prosperity.
Fellow Gambians, I ask you to help us with resources we need to change the situation in our country. In return, I assure you that I shall lead the chariot of Gambian warriors on the ground inside our country till conclusive victory.
Every soldier knows that battle tactics alone cannot win a war. Preparedness alone cannot win a war. Without the required arsenal, even the biggest fighting force will be subdued to its knees by a well prepared, motivated, well armed smaller contingent. GMC shall not go to war or battle without the required arsenal because as the General, I will not recklessly imperil the lives of my fighting men and women.
Help us to help you and our country. Help us with the resources we need, and have faith in us, yourselves, our future and the limitless possibilities. I am very confident that armed with the requisite resources, I am capable of providing the right leadership direction till conclusive victory. The ball is now out of my yard and unto your court. Your people, our people are crying out for help. God Bless the Republic of The Gambia!”
Mai N.K Fatty
GMC Leader”

There goes the snake oil salesman again...sole financier of a political party of 'one'...You just keep going Rambo. The GMC has no followers whatsoever, so how he is a public figure escapes my imagination.

Mansasul; do you see yourself voting for Mai if he goes home and unites the opposition under one umbrella. Also; Could you kindly remind me the issues you have with Mai.

IN MY OPINION MAI FATTY IS ON TRACK AS A CONCERNED CITIZEN WITH OUR POLITICAL SITUATION! HE DESERVES COMMENDATION AS A SINCERE POLITICIAN AND WITH GOOD LEADERSHIP QUALITIES; AMONGST OTHERS. ALSO HE IS DOING WELL WITH MEDIA PROPAGANDA, SENSITISATION & MOBILISATION SINCE HE THREW HIS HAT TO LEAD UNDER G.M.C AND LEADING AN AGGRESSIVE CAMPAIGN STRATEGY AGAINST JAMMEH & A.P.R.C REGIME; FAR BETTER THAN HAMAT BAH AND N.R.P THAT APPEAR TO BE DORMANT OR DEFUNCT

WE DON'T HEAR ANYTHING FROM HAMAT BAH SINCE DECEMBER 2010 ON NATIONAL ISSUES; EXCEPT PLAYING LIP-SERVICE AS OPPOSITION LEADER AND FOCUSING ON HIS WEALTH (AS HOTEL BUSINESS TYCOON) LAST YEAR 2010 HE WAS FEATURED ONLY FIVE TIMES ONLY (February 9th, 22nd, May 24, June 16th and December 30th) & ALMOST THREE MONTHS NOW IN 2011 HIS VOICE IS NEVER HEARD ON ANY POLITICAL DEVELOPMENTS OR ACTIVITIES

My issue with Mai Fatty is that he claims to lead a party with no followers. GMC has no followers. If you find just one, let me know and please dont count me his facebook followers, cousins, aunts, uncles or those people who were recently arrested for flying a GMC flag. I have said it here time and time again and I challenge Mai Fatty to prove me other wise. He cannot fool me. There is no structure to the GMC, no followers or any other thing that makes a party a party. So if I hear him trumpetting his own trumpet, I just wish he would stop. Everytime he starts, he reminds me of Rambo...not Rambo Jatta, but Rambo Sylvester Stallone.

If he can unite a credible opposition, I will file behind him and give him my full support because at that point he will ultimately become a choice for the people. I will not hold my breathe for that to happen...there is a better chance of hell freezing over than Mai Fatty doing that.

Every Gambian has right to stand for office of any kind including Hon Mai Fatty.
It is not just money that makes the formation of a political party. One need people and a lot of them. So I don't understand what critics of Mr. Fatty has against him.Let them try to form a political Party and see if they would get Mai's following in terms of numbers.
This man see it necessary to stand up to the dictator why not Gambians support or even emphatise with him? I sometimes wounder what type of Gambia we are heading for!
Mr.Gomez formed his party for the love of his country and some people accused him of trying to gain cheap popularity now it is Mr.Fatty!
Chei Gambia my body die for you. The essence of multi party democracy is under fire from the very people who claim to be crying for it.!

Jayanfara,

If you agree with Mai Fatty perhaps you should renounce your support for the UDP and be counted amongst his followers. I am surprised you don't even see how the manner of Mai "Rambo" Fatty's existence on the political scene undercuts the message of UDP. By the time you build alliances with actual political parties and then with the "Rambo parties" then Jammeh will just romp to another landslide because by then the voters will see a clear difference between what they know and a disjointed future someone is trying to sell them.

I did not see where mansa is objecting multi party system. It is part of the democracy to make criticism of the capability/qualification of opposition as much as the government. No?

diaspora! Too many Chiefs and Very Few Indians.

Halifa Salah: PDOIS is however realistic. It is fully aware that the Gambian voters are yet to reach a level of political consciousness that they rely on to vote on the basis of Principles, policies and programmes and practices.

Mansasulu,
I think politics needs maturity.I am a seasoned politician and T strongly believed with a sound mind that am very capable to determine which political party I want to associate myself with based on shared principles I have with that party. I joined the UDP on my own free will without any pressure and if my party UDP today violates any of those shared principles which convinced me to join it in the first place, Yes mansasulu I would consider my membership but that doesn't mean I would have to join Mr. Fatty. I have the party of my choice and I am happy with UDP's thank you.
In politics you don't hate but you differ because we need each other to move a nation.UDP is a government in waiting and we welcome all including Mr.Fatty and mansasulu what ever you have against Mr. fatty has nothing to do with UDP so it has to be personal so I don't deal with personal issues and may I ask why you think I should not defend a fellow opposition when we jointly shared the common goal of removing a tyrant.
I completely don't agree with you because my Leader Alhagie Ousainou Darboe Leader of UDP had welcome Mr. Fatty's party in his led coalition and if he shared your view, he would not have allowed it because am sure Darboe right now is calling on all to follow his lead I call it "the coalition of the willing" to join him this year to uproot the tyrant and throw him out of that high office .

Enlighten us please because I am not aware of any coalition that the UDP is leading. Perhaps its a coalition with Mai Fatty that you are talking about. And there in lies the problem. My fundamental issue with Mai Fatty is that he has no followers and he is claiming to lead people who shall remain nameless. I knew UDP were politically married to NRP, but I believe that marriage has since disintegrated. I have my qualms about Darboe but will reserve that for another time.

If what the UDP and all these so call opposition parties including Mai Fatty are trying to sell us is half baked ideas and division, may the Sheikh win.

Janyanfara, you are so full of crap and just striaght up retarded. You're not seasoned or mature. You are the caliber of politicians with no vision or political strategy. You darboe and fatty have one thing in common y'all a bunch of opportunist. Mai is so unfilt To be claiming fit in any dimension. He is a loser and has no association with all the globe throtting the party will come to an end. The brother just made it clear for all sound and sundry to hear. No supporters equals no financing of course he has the right to waste his hard earned money there is no limit to that. Jayanfara I am a true manjago and we are not done with the omar khan issue yet. Y'all some terrible individuals and this includes your leader DOBO. His title should include Alagie "Sangara" Darboe. Ask your boss about his drinking club in kanifing and how he loves his alcohol before we discuss Omar khans sex life then we will discuss your hopeless father who never did anything for his country. Omar Khan has kids in texas older than our old fart Santafara and I will prove you wrong as time permits. This just got started and I was just a bit tied up. .............Peace

Moe and Mansa,
I will reserve Omar for now as he is an uncle. But if you require the truth about him ask the area council in Basse they will tell you how Omar is filling that council with young girls who boast to anyone that they are above sarking and anyone who dares them would get themselves out the door.If you are old and would not want to bring shame to your grown up kids, do the right thing and leave young girls alone period because all public servants are public assests and under constant checks. If anyone close to Omar Khan hates to hear such, they should ask him to peacefully retire from public office.
As for Darboe,s drink, I have heard about but never seen him drink alcohol and I have been with him for a very long time.It could be true maybe.
But the issue here is as for Moe, you have problems with your health because you are temperamental and using faul languages, doesnot help.Gambia belong to all her people and all public persons are not prone to scrutiny and this include Darboe. If anyone choose to stand for public office, let your family be ready as the Gambian public would do everything to scrutinise you at all levels.
We want a better Gambia and if you Moe did not want that, then you better be from another planet or country because Gambian public servants and personels would always come under fire OR "more DIMBA, SAFARA AND JAI NGOL"
There is nothing anyone can do anything about not even you?It is because of wanting public office that you can today say all sorts about Darboe not so? No one had insulted Darboe before he stood for public office so Darboe's family knows this and would put up with it.That is what is the essence of democracy.

If you were not so backward and so unstable I would have taken you for a ride but first you have to get your past and present tenses together then we can talk. Secondly Waa Juwara is your Uncle, Right!! then Omar Khan is a close associate not to mention Jammeh is related to you by marriage. You are off your rockers "Fambondi" either you are one lying son of a gun or just a psycho. What you are saying to me and the world is hear say. The problem with ya'll UDP clowns is that you and your human rights lawyer DOBO are clueless as to what the law entails. First of all not a single charge of sexual harrasment has ever been levied against Mr Khan in Basse. What you are doing right now is why your hopeless leader and his klan always end up in jail. You don't understand how anything works. UDP, NRP or GMC cant shake the APRC out of Basse, thats Sailou Bah's territory and best believe "Pullo Futa Jamfa Kat leng". You talk about scrutinizing public officials but your stupid asses have not identified how to scrutinize the institutions they run instead we are at this stalemate of personality politics. Darboe and the UDP party is a threat to democracy, they are unrealistic and just obnoxious. Hear say is the reason why Politics in Gambia fails to evolve. Jayanfara from what I deduced out of you, trust this bro you need some serious therapy, You are just like the Demba Baldehs and Daltons in cyberspace. A bunch of no bodys trying to be somebody, so they meet at the intersection of nobody's to shine. The UDP as a party should be ashamed of the Jayanfaras and Santafaras in cyberspace for they are a liability to the party and its very existence, you can take my word for it. You seem to be an office "Gorr gegaine" wearing your Jall Jalley's and G strings to work ready to quarrel and disagreeing with women all day. Let me reassure you one thing my friend, the ONLY Gambian That Insults Other Peoples Parents and calls it scrutinizing is the fool whose father was a dependent of the state. Generally no education whatsoever and worse than the Taliban. They go to Bantaba's and chat all day talking about crap they know nothing about claiming expert whilst their wives do the farming and grow the food at the Naco's. Every ground nut season after harvesting their bounty they take up a 12 year old virgin. You can deny this all you want but rest assured if you look in the mirror it hits pretty damn close to HOME. If am wrong tell me what your kin folk have done for their country. Much more like a reflection of the past . Right!!This is what you hopeless people are and half baked educated illiterates is the main reason Africa takes one step forward and five step backwards for it ain't just you its a bunch of sick and twisted individuals with a twisted ego and ya'll know who am talking about so don't get it twisted Hommies am talking about YOU..........................................Peace [
