when the frog stood on the road to challenge a truck to a duel it was confident that it will win so too are the simple assumption of ascendancy of the UDP/NRP alliance . What they are forgetting is that the scenery has evolved to new horizons.Yes in the past they were in those preveledged positions and should not be discounted by any serious political movement. But and a big but here is that they must also consider that people across the broad spectrum of Gambian politics are now poised to act and on a bigger scale with new grounds for so doing. which therefore should make them reconsider their stance as it were. Truely some people voted for the UDP or NRP because they were the ones standing in opposition then but now you have the PPP etc actively involved;fractious as it may be ;it presents us with a shimmering outlay of groupings none of these two parties can lay any real claim over till they test the new grounds. the recent results of the bye elections are clear manufestations of this assertion.so the safest move would in my opinion be to join forces and avoid making such stances as they are now taking. I appeal to them to rethink their positions .Remember folks we were all there and saw people reacting to these two parties whilst others was banned from participation as active opposition parties. Now that is clearly not the case so please rethink. We give you credit for standing up to be counted then but now you have partners you cannot ignore in this equation it would be a fatal mistake we can do without. If they insist they will surely fail and then surely no one will forgive them for failing us.

Kaaniba Those are the realities we want them to pay heed to. However they appear to be obsessed with power and don't know how to get it. If it backfires they are the victims of their own design; considered traitors who should be dealt with mercilessly.

Eventually if they are defeated come post Election 2006 don't be surprised to see them within the ranks of the ruking government, especially Hamat Bah to sacrifice his political ambitions of leading a vibrant opposition party to pledge allegiance to Jammeh and accept any offer to work with them as exactly like Sheriff Dibba did and was granted Speaker of the house of representatives.

thanks Kobo you have been a great contributor on this site and i read your postings with gusto. The political champions as they are now considering themselves to be would surely do well to take heed of our concerns .you see the fact remains that none of them UDP?NRP?NADD can go it alone .They know this surely and it would be the silly don quixote mentality that would make them challenge this giant crazed with power single handed or only armed with thier silly egoes.Sorry for my vernacular just waking up after all nite party.Let no one say the food is hot it should be or no one will chop am .na true
