LATEST UPDATE WITH FOROYAA Editorial : 2011: A YEAR OF RECKONING under http://www.foroyaa.gm/modules/news/article.php?storyid=6353

ABC LESSON 1 FOR THE DEAF, DUMB & BLIND ON "DEMOCRACY" AND "TRUE DEMOCRATS" "Gambia is a Sovereign Republic and sovereign power resides in the people. The ruling party has to come back to the people to seek for their mandate while opposition parties try to show that the ruling party has not and will not serve the people and that they are real servants of the people. The people will decide in elections who will serve them in the next five years. Each citizen is equal to another with just one vote, from top to bottom, irrespective of position or status."Foroyaa Editorial

Simple and very thoughtful message, Mawdo Kobo.

[Whatever the people decide so shall it be. The people should not make the wrong choice and then complain.]

Thanks for Sharing.

LESSON 2. "EMPOWERMENT OF THE PEOPLE" FOROYAA SIMPLY WANTS GAMBIANS TO BE AWAKE (THROUGH CIVIC EDUCATION AND FOROYAA), TO TAKE DESTINY ON THEIR HANDS AND NOT DEMANDING THE VOTES FOR P.D.O.IS OR ANY OF ITS LEADERS

IN SIMPLE TERMS; EVERY CITIZEN HAS AN OPEN CHOICE FOR JAMMEH TO RULE OR SOMEBODY ELSE

The editorial is short, sweet, simple and loaded to the brim of its neck.

I like it.

When is PDOIS going to convene a congress to elect a leader? In the last congress, they failed to do this but promised that this will happen this year, 2011, presumably before the election. Are they going to keep their promise or is it going to be another ''Destiny has called on me to lead?''

The last time PDOIS conducted leadership election was 10yrs ago, in 2000, in the village of Wuli Taibatu.

Thanks

I do not oppose unity but I oppose dumb union.

"The seventh resolution took cognizance of the fact that internal party democracy is inconceivable without power being exercised by the party members and that power must extend to the election of executive members of the party. The Congress further took note of the fact that this is the first congress that PDOIS held after the establishment of NADD. It resolves that the delegates should go back to work for the branches of the party to flourish in order to enable the membership to develop relation and understanding with each other. It resolves to hold another Congress at the latter part of this year or early next year to enable the party to update its registration of members and facilitate the democratic selection of delegates so as to elect party executive members.
