OVER 400 OR 4000 GAMBIANS TRAPPED IN TRIPOLI, IS HELP IN SIGHT?
By Suwaibou Touray
28-02-11

A group of Gambians in Tripoli, the Capital of Libya contacted the Foroyaa office by telephone on Friday 25th February 2011 informing this reporter that Gambians are trapped in Tripoli.
Asked how many of them are trapped in Tripoli, the caller said over 4000 Gambians are trapped in Tripoli alone as a result of the recent upheavals there. Earlier callers put the figure at 400.The numbers aside; it is a fact that some Gambians are stranded in Libya.

The informant whose voice sounded hysterical said they are in a pathetic state and are afraid of being attacked and beaten by Libyans. One could hear people talking at the top of their voices in the background.
Asked whether they do not have a Gambian consul there; the caller said that the Gambian consul is Amadou Jawo whom he said could not be reached.
Asked where they are grouped ,the caller said ”We the Gambians are now grouped at the Senegalese Embassy but Senegalese authorities are taking care of their nationals and we Gambians are left here and no one is here to help us”
Asked if the fighting is still going on, the informant said: “Fighting is still going on and getting worse”. The caller who could hardly be heard because of the noise at the background swore to the Holy Quran that they the Gambians have nowhere to turn to and they want the paper to inform the authorities about their plight. As his voice faded one could hear sobbing at the background.

Editors Note
The Authorities at Foreign affairs have been contacted. They are informed of the plight of the Gambians. Gambia and Senegal should cooperate and bring their Nationals back. ECOWAS, AU and the UN should take immediate steps to address the plight of the non Libyan Nationals who are stranded in Libya.

Does Yaya Jammeh care about the plight of stranded Gambians in Libya with that jaw-cracking bad name calling of his senior Pan-African General Qaddafi?

The only time I can ever recall a Gambian Government ever repartriating their national from a war turn country was during the Siera Leonian war when a chartered ship brought some Gambians and refugees from war turn area.
The Gambians in Libya I say to them may God guide them out safely but if they think Yahya Jammeh's Government would come to their aid to take them out, then they better join the rebels there if they can't escape out on their own.
With the level of hatred the desert Arabs have for Black people and much with the alledge story that Gaddafi the mad Dog is using African machinaries to kill Libyans, no Black is safe in Libya except if you are seen fighting for the opposite forces to Gaddafi.
Jammeh sees all Gambians outside his Iron grip as enemies to his regime. Bringing those Gambians with elections looming and a lot of oppositions to his tyrany? NO WAY HE WILL NOT EVEN CONSIDER IT.

Praise be to God!
But do we have all our citizens out?
The crazy Libyan leader I heard have asked his butchers to forcefully retrurn any foreinger who try to flee the capital as most of the workers in the cleaning and manual labour sector are foreign nationals. Who knows wheither he might one day use them as human shields?
May God safe the Libyans and foreign nationals from this ***** and his *****ic family. They are all mad butchers who would stop at nothing even if it means to sinking of the entire Libya beneath the desert.

"They were evacuated from the strife-torn North African nation through the efforts of the government of The Gambia, which committed D20 million through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad to ensure that all Gambians in Libya who wish to come back home, can do so safely. Upon their arrival, it was confirmed that only five returnees suffered minor injures as a result of the unrest in Libya. "According to Daly Observer
