Has anyone used USB one, in Gambia? How is the coverage, speed?

Halifa Salah: PDOIS is however realistic. It is fully aware that the Gambian voters are yet to reach a level of political consciousness that they rely on to vote on the basis of Principles, policies and programmes and practices.

Yes, they are ok. Although not so fast for downloading large files, you can easily surf the wwww and read your mails. Coverage is just like the cell phone network of the provider. I guess they are between 128-512Kbps for downloads.

Momodou,I found your post interesting but not being an internet and mobile phone expert I found it difficult to understand the jargon and would appriciate it if you could post information that us simple folk can understand,I understand how to make a phone call on a mobile phone that's about it its all jargon based and being a little older than 14 I am baffled. Thanks

The answer was not for rookies. I am sure Turk undstands. You can visit the link provided above and also check the application form for residential wirless broadband at: http://www.qanet.gm/cs/forms/ressharedform.pdf

What was your question?

Thanks for the info. I checked the websites, i was just interested in hearing personal experience. Checking emails is no problem. I was more interested in if I could do some work while I am there plus watch NBA videos via league pass and youtube via my new toy iphone4.

Turk, I never knew you could use a USB data card with iphone.

Anyway, I have tried to use skype video on a laptop with USB data card and the connection is lost very frequently.

See this one Toubab. It is ofcourse if you have a company or internet café. http://www.qanet.gm/cs/forms/Corporate%20Shared%20Wireless%20Internet%20Form.pdf

This one is the new alternative. I didn't see it when I replied to Turk earlier because they are advertising download speed of up to 3.1Mbit/s : http://www.myweb.gamtel.gm/web/tariff_profiles.htm

Turk, I believe you can also access wireless on an iphone4 even if it is not jailbroken and has no service...might work even better once you jailbreak that ******...let me know of your experience with it...

Mamadou

Thanks for the more info.

Mansa

Yes I can. I will see my options when I get there. Normally, it is not that big deal being on the net when I am in Gambia, because I really enjoy my stay there. But this time, I have some work to do, using my laptop and connecting to my development machine via vpn, that is why I want to have a reliable/faster/mobile connection.

I will share my experience with everyone once I get there.
