Authored by Yero Jallow (Dalton), Gainako Staffer
Fellow Compatriots,
I must first apologise to my fans for the short stay away, and certainly holds no grudge against any one, though filled with anger to the brim over the divided opposition. For a while, i thought i could just be silent for ever- why fight a loose battle ? Other moments are moving, and as a result we cannot stay silent without making our little noises heard. In any true partnership, a sense of respect, responsibility and understanding is highly expected, and such will give birth to a culture of "tolerance" and "acceptance". Of late, things seems twisted around, and the world-coin is twisted at 360 degrees. Such timely terror is really disturbing. The good old saying injustice to Lalo is injustice to all. Also, i just came back from a trip in Wisconsin, where i was opportuned to be on their local TV for 20 minutes as a guest to their special "Senegambian session." All these combined didn't make it easy for me to entertain and inform my fans with the promise i made. The other paper, Gainako, is also still in pregnancy, and i ask all to be patient for a noble birth. There is no rush for such just for surfacing, but that once it comes into play, then it will be there to give a voice to the voiceless.
Being a fan and young student of online newspapers, i am out of tears in another moment in my life time. The terror attack to "Freedom" came barely two weeks after i wrote a piece on "moves to silent societal catalysts", in which i talked about terror beyond the Gambian border. It is undoubtable that a desparate tyrant will take to any means to operate and survive. No one need proof that some of the contributors are receiving threats abroad and at home-at family level. It will never be cowardice to say so loud and clear, infact if such e-mails should be placed here in this forum, readers will be shocked as to the level of terror reached at. I am not a fortune teller to be pridicting future events, only using ongoing trends to realize what the future holds.
While, today, my heart bleeds nonstop, just like the thousands of you out there, not just because Pa Nderry is a colleague in the struggle, or I being his fan for his steadfastness to getting people informed, but that I and the tens of thousands of readers to the freedom forum are today terrolized, and denied our rights. Such form of extremism in terror cannot be tolerated. Every one must continue to seek freedom. We can neither be imprisoned in our minds nor stripped naked of our rights. At any moment in life that we accept to be at such a level of slavery, then dying is better than living. While we cannot be in that state, then we cannot accept others to be in it.
Being in disagreement with any one at any time shouldn't resort to terror, and let no one here or there support terror. For, if you support terror on Pa Nderry, you watch out terror grow and creep to get to you.The voices of decent cannot be silent, and we need the "Freedom" newspaper to live longer than its enermies demonstrated to us today. We certainly withnessed many joyous and sad moments; where hope was lost or gained; where terror was shamed or conquered; where partners parted with delight or hate; where many were mistaken or taken for others, but that which lives for ever is the truth, that all of us as humans should defend at any time.
What is factual, humans must desist from their culture of nonsense, terror, hate, underrating, disrespect, inconsistency, political immaturity, and corruption. The current century doesn't call for such hateful instints and attitudes. Today, i and the tens of thousands of fans to Freedom are barred of a forum to read and update ourselves on happenings in the Gambia. Such a barabaric destruction can be hardly forgiven, the supporters of such inhumane terror also woefully failed. Whatever motive it is done for, one cannot justify this barbaric attitude cheaply, just because of the manner of reporting and editorial policy that Pa Nderry is constant in. May be hate only one, and atleast not the fans or other contributors, because Freedom like all other papers has been there for all and sundry. For any sane and sensible person to openly make a mockery for such terror only proves insanity and lacken in respect for fundamental human rights.
Pending investigations and conclusions, the enermy might be far or near. It could be he have bigger plans to not only destroy freedom, but other online sites around. That's why there is a need for unity among people with a common enermy. We, as humans, shouldn't get to any level where we cannot arrange or unite ourselves.
To Pa Nderry, and his gallant team, i tell you "You da me'en". Keep up the good job, and take a note that today's episode won you more love, and admiration from your fans and friends. If Dr. King, JFK and Malcolm X were killed, then you become no exception to a bullet from a nine mm hand gun. Now, to end the terror, i will advice both you and your technical team to adopt good measures in securing the site and passwords for admin access, secondary to timely tracking of suspicious visitors to the site. It will also be wise to verify stories as they come to you on the mail box. Your technical team must keep that trust of protecting the site for all, and changing passwords often. Backups are very essential, and today a backup sounds too important to be ignored.
Long live Freedomnewspaper and all her online sisters ! Long live freedom and rule of law ! Long live diversity, acceptance and tolerance ! Long live media outlets !

| Am yet to see your reactions towards NADDs disintegration and how to motivate them to reconcile their conflicts of interests and prepare under a united front for Election 2006. What propsals and strategies do you have in mind. Can you write to the parties concerned on:- "NADD and The MOU is the way forward - An Appeal to All opposition Parties to fight Election 2006 Under One Banner". Also there are some elements of sacrifices to the extent of re-negotiations of the flagbearship , improvement of the MOU and mandate for the term of its future president, at high level that are necessary in the interests of the masses. Can you help on this assignment Dalton? Time is running out and it is never too late than never.! |

| Pular, John Dalton, Gainako, "Have you eaten", Jedda, "Copy the whole book", “Corporal Bakary Manneh”........the list goes on and on. I once said that names are not answers when GUC was changed to MSG and then finally to NAWEC while still delivering poor service to the nation, and this relates to you here too. What I'm trying to say is that double your efforts to unite the opposition and never succumb to defeat. Also why is your site so dormant with no new information for months? Being once your classmate at Gambia High and now your fan and cyber-mate, I would want you to continue shinning. You may guess my name but for goodness shake, never reveal my real identity. |

That's one of the kinds of challenges and top rated on my priority lists of issues that am scrolling on, scrutinising and reviewing through this fora. What strategies or ideas do you have in mind to promote this unity and the way forward for the opposition parties to prepare working together and/or proper prepartions for Election 2006.

Pelias, where do u get such a beautiful name ? I would have expected some D's or some B's. I couldn't second my thoughts. When are you going to come up with a book regarding 'terror'-laugh !
Kobo & Talibeh, Good job for your positive contributions. I am truly a fan of many here, moreso Kobo-very interractive and active.
"opinion"
To be honest, Gainako will be operational some day, maybe sooner than expected. With the divided coalition, it's a headache. Honestly, i am too little an ant to shouldier the mighty task. The bigger guns are there. A compromise and sacrifice of some sort is needed from them. The problem as investigated at gossip level seems to blame the division and disunity on certain fellows, all from different parties that originally formed Nadd. Will all these individuals give us a break ? Day in and day out, we see more wrongs and signs of selfishness and disunity coming from them.
If my little humble opinion were to reach to them, here is a way forward:
Part one
(I) each of the parties that formed Nadd need to extend a hand out (II) Those that abondoned the union must come back to it. (III) Those that abondoned Nadd must apologise for their untimely action. (IV) Those making deregatory comments must also apologise to those offended. (v) Each of interested candidates should put their stake upfront, and ask for endorsement from the others. (VI) Let each of the candidates purify themselves-from all forms of selfishness, hate, personal differences etc.. (VII) If any party believes it owns majority, it need to push that vote to convince the executive (VIII)Let each party rely on its three votes as stipulated in the MOU and veto vote.
We also congratulate Pa Nderry, and we hope others will learn their lessons from there. At any time, when terror occurs before critisism or with critisism should be condemning the evil act of terror.
