a friend mentioned a national health program they're working on in Ghana and i thought i'll forward it to the Bantaba for info.its similar to the UK health system and its good.
basically Ghana is implementing a national health scheme whereby basic healthcare would be free. Cedi 100,000 = $10.
The idea is super of course,I see 3 problems, will the people be able to pay 2)who will look after the fund, the amount of money collected will be great 3)Will the fund have enough money to provide this Eupopian service, look at the state of such a scheme in what is supposed to be a developed country like Great Britain. Wiil it work I wonder
"Simple is good" & I strongly dislike politics. You cannot defend the indefensible.
good questions, often funds are collected for one purpose and spent for another? i have no idea. but from the text they have classified the people according to income. i see also some new terms to describe poverty (core poor, very poor and poor). so they perhaps know what they are doing.
but the current system as is typical in Africa is ''Cash and Carry''. if you don't have money i'm sorry but people will just die. so it a good idea to spread the cost.
its the first i know in Africa and we'll see how it evolves.
Already had a glimse of the document and the scheme appears to be a good initiative to improve health and social services. However money flowing and enough cash liquidity encourages corruption even if millions are invested on sensitisation. It is very encouraging to try and implement more services available in develope countries in Africa.
It is also noteworthy to mention that these schemes, services and projects are viable areas to tap from by those already qualified and gained the experience to implement them, to minimise the brain drain syndrome and encourage them to come to Africa and do something for their countries respectively.
