Death is reported of Dr Mamo Jawla a Gambian medical and health expert who worked for World Health Organisation WHO in South Africa until his death recently.
Dr Jawla is known to have served his native Gambia satisfactorily. Various people including Halifa Sallah and Imam Baba Leigh described Dr Jawla as helpful and caring. He was laid to rest at Kanifing Cemetry.
Thanks for this information Karamba. He was a good friend and an elder brother. I had been talking to him almost daily during his last days when he was in hospital. He was even jovial the last time I spoke to him. I received the sad news as I was about to board a plane to Jeddah KSA but did not have access to the internet the last three weeks. My sincere condolences go to Ayo, Louise, the children and the entire extended family. He will really be missed. May Allah SWT grant him Jannah.
