Dibba, minister of Environment, Climate Change and Natural Resources, officials of MoTC and its satellite institutions. Shortly after the tour, President Barrow who joined other tourism stakeholders such as: tour operators, hoteliers, craft market vendors, juice pressers among others on a beach cleaning exercise organised by The Gambia Tourism Board said tourism is everybody’s business that “we have to give support” and every Gambian who wants to be part of change has to contribute towards it,” adding that every responsibility needs somebody to take charge.” President Barrow urged Gambians to remain united. “We want Gambian people to remain united, if we are, we are strong and it was because we were united that we were able to make the change, and I want the spirit of unity to continue among Gambians.” He re-emphasised that with unity the country will make a big difference, pointing out that the tourism industry is “our diamond and gold.” He continued that “20 percent of our GDP is coming from this industry and we want that to increase.” The president assured stakeholders of his government’s support especially as the industry is blessed with an experienced minister. “The political will is there, and the days of executive order are over in this country. Now the political will is there to support everybody because we have no doubt, we can move this country forward; others were able to do it so we can also do it.” To be secured, President Barrow called for creation of more jobs “the best way to be secured is to create jobs and this is national duty and national duty is everybody’s duty. He later appreciated the efforts of the PIU and Gambia Army in joining the cleaning exercise and as well congratulated the hoteliers for their achievements and contributions towards development of the country, while encouraging them to do more.
