One Muhammed Drammeh has been sentenced to pay a fine of D84, 228.83 in default to serve three years imprisonment at the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court presided by Magistrate M.S. Jallow.

He was standing trial on charges of stealing one black Techno mobile phone.

According to the particulars of offence, Muhammed Drammehin May 2017 at Serrekunda in the Kanifing Municipality, the Republic of The Gambia, stole one black Techno mobile phone with Gamcel post-paid sim card number 9962543 and made several national and international calls since May to July 2017, which accumulated to D84, 228.83 (Eighty four thousand two hundred and twenty-eight dalasis eight-three bututs) the property of the Gambia Port Authority, thereby committed an offence.

The accused, in his plead of mitigation, asked the court for mercy, saying he was a first time offender.

In her judgement, magistrate M.S. Jallow said the accused must pay the said amount within five months and in default, he will serve his jail term.
