National Reconciliation, Justice & Democratisation in The Gambia

Today at 18:30–20:30

Place: Melahuset
Mariboes gate 8, 0183 Oslo, Norway

Topic: National Reconciliation, Justice and Democratisation in the New Gambia: Dialogue with the Gambian Diaspora in Norway.

It is a beginning of a new era in The Gambia, after the country ended 22 years of dictatorship in the elections of December 2016. This was followed by National Assembly elections in April 2017 to further strengthen the democratisation process in the country. While the pace is being set for good governance and development, the government however, grapples with burning issues of justice, reconciliation and reparations considering gross violations of human rights perpetrated by the former regime. The combined call for good governance, justice and reconciliation are fundamental and instrumental in determining the consolidation of the country’s newly found democracy.

The Africa Center for Information & Development (ACID), in collaboration with PDOIS supporters in Oslo, invites you to this dialogue meeting with Mr. Halifa Sallah, Secretary General of the People’s Democratic Organisation for Independence and Socialism (PDOIS).

Mr. Sallah is invited here to hold a series of lectures and meetings with the Gambian diaspora, politicians and institutions in Oslo, Stockholm, Gothenburg, Copenhagen and Hamburg.

His visit starts in Norway, to Sweden, Denmark and Germany before finally returning to the Gambia.
