Some 29 staff of the National Water and Electricity Company (NAWEC) were last week terminated over alleged fraud of cash power sales, a reliable source informed The Standard yesterday.
Our source said the scam was discovered at several cash power selling points mainly in the Greater Banjul Area and it involved fraudulent method of imputing sales records or reporting transaction among other things.

Our source said Nawec authorities discovered the scam with a shock and have ordered an investigation which implicated dozens of staff and some supervisors of the cash power section.
Our source however failed to supply the identities of the affected staff.
When contacted for clarification, the NAWEC public relation officer, Mr Pierre Sylva declined to comment saying the story is news to him.
