UDP Treasurer’s Appeal Deferred

By Rohey Jadama
Foroyaa: Published on October 18, 2015

The appeal case of Mr. Amadou Sanneh, the National Treasurer of the United Democratic Party (UDP), did not proceed yesterday, 15th October, 2015 before a panel of the Gambia Court of Appeal comprising Justices Edrissa Fafa Mbai, Nacessay Sallah Wadda and Awa Bah as it did not sit.
The panel was supposed to give the reasons as to why the case of Mr.Sanneh was unanimously dismissed by the court. The case was therefore adjourned to 16 November 2015 for the court to give its reasons.
It could be recalled that at the last sitting, Justice Edrissa Fafa Mbai, said the appeal of Mr.Sanneh was unanimously dismissed and the reasons will be given later on the 15th October, 2015.
Mr.Sanneh is challenging his conviction by Justice Emmanuel Nkea of the Special Criminal Division of the Banjul High Court to serve five years for sedition related charges and five years for conspiracy, both of which are to run concurrently.
His trial at the high court lasted for three months.
