The president of the Republic, His Excellency Sheikh Prof. Alh. Dr. Yahya Jammeh, acting under the provisions of the constitution has relieved Momodou Sabally as the minister of Presidential Affairs, secretary general and head of the Civil Service and replaced him with Abdoulie Sallah, former secretary to Cabinet effective, Tuesday, 1st July, 2014, the Presidency announced yesterday.

The full text of the release reads: “His Excellency the president of the Republic of The Gambia Sheikh Prof. Alh Dr. Yahya A.J.J. Jammeh, acting under the provisions of section 71(4) (b) of the constitution of the Republic of The Gambia, has decided to relieve Mr. Momodou Sabally of his Cabinet appointment as minister of Presidential Affairs, secretary general and head of the Civil Service with effect from Tuesday 1st July 2014. In the same vein, His Excellency the president of the Republic of The Gambia, Sheikh Professor Alh Dr. Yahya A.J.J Jammeh, acting under the provision of sections 71(1) and 71(3) of the constitution of the Republic of The Gambia has made the following appointments. Mr. Abdoulie M. Sallah as minister of Presidential Affairs, secretary general and head of the Civil Service with immediate effect and Mr. Momodou Sabally as minister of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology with effect from 1st July 2014”

President Yahya Jammeh Tuesday appointed Abdoulie Sallah as the new minister for Presidential Affairs, secretary-general at the Office of the President and head of the civil service with immediate effect, announced GRTS radio last evening.

Sallah who was secretary to the Cabinet replaced Momodou Sabally, who was deployed as minister for Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology.

1. JAMMEH SPEAKS AGAINST ARROGANCE, CALLS FOR HUMILITY

The president of the Republic has strongly spoken against the bad tendency of arrogance, warning that such an ill behavior will not be tolerated within the government circle. He stressed the need for humility and urged members of the government not only to be approachable, but strongly bear in mind the fact that they are all servant of The Gambian people.

His Excellency Sheikh Prof. Alh. Dr Yahya Jammeh was speaking Thursday afternoon at State House in Banjul while presiding over the swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed secretary general, head of the Civil Service and Presidential Affairs minister, Abdoulie Sallah alongside the minister of Trade, Employment and Regional Integration, Abdou Jobe and the secretary to Cabinet, Noah Touray.

The three senior officials took three oaths of office, secrecy and allegiance before the president, witnessed by the vice president and Women’s Affairs minister, Her Excellency Aja Dr. Isatou Njie-Saidy among other Cabinet ministers.

The Gambian leader further warned: “Arrogance would not be tolerated especially towards anybody more so towards your fellow ministers. You’ve a responsibility but you are not a lord of anybody. If you are given a responsibility and you think that you are so good that you decide when to be approached and when not to be approached, you are in the wrong place because my government is not meant for that......Full Report
