NCC report: the proposed transition timetable

Annex VII compares the AFPRC’s original timetable with the shorter schedule recommended by the National Consultative Committee. Annex VIII lists the editorial subcommittee.

The proposed sequence

The committee’s schedule brought forward constitutional and electoral reviews, electoral administration, voter registration and the resumption of party politics.

The intended endpoint

It proposed general and presidential elections in June 1996, followed by the inauguration of the new head of state and National Assembly in July 1996. These were proposals in the report, rather than a record of the dates on which events actually occurred.
