Let me cry my heart out
at the corner of the street
and vent my anger and frustration
and let no one tell me
that I cannot cry
that I cannot sing songs of lamentation on the sidewalk.

Let me shout my voice out
at the busy intersection of the market
and bemoan my hunger and thirst
and let no one tell me
that I cannot shout
that I cannot bewail my deprivation at the marketplace.

Let me be
let me savor the gift of life
let me freely breathe the morning air
and safely walk the dusty path to the Bantaba
and join the choir of villagers
with their rhythmic chorus of defiance
and let no one tell me
that I cannot be defiant
that I cannot wave the banner of protestation at the Bantaba.

Let me cry
let me shout
and let me be
and let no one tell me
that I cannot keep the peace
that I cannot be the custodian of the truth that set me free.

Sankalanka Thanks for another inspiring poem; in the struggle for freedom! "Cry (your) heart out" and "Cry to me!" with the legend freedom fighter Bob Marley and spitting image son Ziggy "Cry, Cry, Cry" for your "Personal Revolution"; but agitation, whingeing and whining about the problems is not a SOLUTION to the problems
