GENERAL BACKGROUND
In December 2017, The Gambia’s National Assembly passed an Act to establish a Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission mandated to investigate and establish an impartial historical record of the nature, causes and extent of violations and abuses of human rights committed during the period July 1994 to January 2017 and to consider the granting of reparations to victims and for connected matters. The TRRC seeks the first batch of qualified individuals to help fulfill this Mandate.

Director of Communications, Outreach and Media Unit
Communications, Outreach and Media Unit
About this position
The TRRC Communications, Outreach and Media Unit is responsible for building and maintaining an open channel for dialogue between the TRRC and the Gambian population. It will serve as the public face of the TRRC and be responsible for communicating the work, updates and findings of the Commission to the public. The Unit will liaise with journalists covering the work of the Commission.
The Communications, Outreach and Media team will, in conjunction with other units of the Commission, be responsible for organizing and publicizing public hearings. The Outreach and Media team will include five regional officers responsible for organizing public hearings in their localities.
The Communications, Outreach and Media Unit will help organize and coordinate the public events and educational activities of the TRRC. This work will be conducted in close collaboration with civil society and aim to promote reconciliation, dialogue, memorialization and learning about the past with a view to promoting the mandate of the TRRC. Public events may include music, art shows, theatre, film screenings, vigils or prayers, community town halls, educational, religious or cultural events, or any other format meaningful to TRRC constituents.
Duties and responsibilities
· Develop a comprehensive communication and outreach strategy in consultation with senior TRRC staff
· Direct a team responsible for issuing press releases, work updates, interviews, radio programs and other communications
· Oversee use of diverse media outlets to raise awareness and build interest in the TRRC
· Oversee management of the TRRC website and social media
· Collaborate with Commissioners and other TRRC Units to ensure the high quality and accuracy of all reports and communications
· Oversee coordination and liaisons with journalists and other representatives of the media
· In collaboration with the reconciliation officers and civil society partners, organize public events aimed at promoting reconciliation, dialogue, memorialization and civic education
· Oversee organization, advertising and management of public hearings in conjunction with other Units. This will include supporting the broadcast of public hearings on radio and television
· Work closely with civil society partners to promote civic education
· Assist the Commission in developing, editing and disseminating all its reports
· Collaborate with experts, partners, donors and other institutions as necessary
· Promote a team based and multi-disciplinary approach to Communications, Outreach and Media work

Requirements for appointment
For appointment to this post, a candidate must:
•Have a minimum of 10 years untarnished professional experience in communications, journalism, television or radio production, media, or related field
•Have a university degree or equivalent professional qualification in journalism, media or related field
•Demonstrated proficiency across multiple media disciplines (i.e. print, radio, online)
•Experience in communication and/or outreach campaigns on human rights and/or for a large organization a strong asset
•Experience in production of television or radio programming a strong asset
•Knowledge of and commitment to high ethical standards of reporting especially as it applies to sensitive and potentially stigmatizing material is required
•Ability to quickly produce high quality reporting and to edit the work of others
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•Proficient with relevant computer applications including social media

About this position
The Director of Research and Investigations at the TRRC will help establish and direct a team of researchers and investigators tasked with uncovering human rights violations committed during the mandate period of the TRRC. Research and investigations will be based on statements collected, forensic investigations including exhumations, and other sources of evidence (i.e. experts, site visit, archives). In addition to thoroughly investigating statements and forensic evidence on select cases, the investigation team may also research wider truths about patterns, themes and consequences of human rights violations. At the end of its mandate, the Research and Investigations Unit will prepare a comprehensive report which sets out its activities and findings based on objective analysis of the research and evidence collected. This report will form part of the Commission’s final report to the President and National Assembly.
The Director of the Research and Investigations Unit will be responsible to the Commissioners for the investigative needs of the Commission. She/he will report to the Executive Secretary.
Specific duties and responsibilities will entail:
•Develop strategy and work plans for the investigations of the Commission, in collaboration with Commissioners and the Executive Secretary
•Help establish the Research and Investigations Unit and participate in staff recruitment
•Investigate allegations made to the Commission in statements, interviews, hearings and other procedures
•Direct the TRRC statement-taking team
•Collaborate with relevant TRRC staff and others in developing the Commission database and other investigative tools
•Collaborate with legal team to identify victims and perpetrators

Requirements for appointment
For appointment to this post, a candidate must:

About this position
Research assistants will work closely with investigators to collect and store information and evidence including documentary evidence such as witness statements, forensic and other evidence collected by investigators for use by the Commission. They shall be responsible for entering, retrieving and managing information using database in searchable format. They shall act as the interface between investigators and the Commission in the collection and presentation of evidence before the Commission.
Research assistants will report to the Director of the Research and Investigations Unit.

•Under the direction of the Unit head, research assistants shall receive evidence from investigators and store them in searchable format
•Provide information including evidence to the Commission when requested

Statement Takers (20 positions available)
Research and Investigations Unit
Duties and responsibilities
Taking statements from victims, perpetrators, witnesses and experts is the primary research method of the TRRC. Statement taking will be conducted in both English and local languages at commission headquarters and in regional offices. In some cases, statement taking will also be conducted by mobile teams. Statement taking methodologies will be adapted to local considerations to ensure TRRC work does not negatively disrupt community dynamics or expose victims who may be at risk of stigmatization or perpetrator retaliation. Precautions will be taken to ensure that the safety and wellbeing of victims is a paramount priority during statement taking, particularly when victims testify on sexual violence, forced HIV treatments and other potentially stigmatizing human rights violations. In some cases, minors who are victims of human rights violations may also give statements to the TRRC but this will require statement takers to receive specific training on child protection and child-appropriate interview techniques.
Statement takers will report to the Director of the Research and Investigations Unit
Duties and responsibilities
· Participate in required trainings on use of statement taking questionnaires and interview protocol
· Take statements in the form of narrative interviews from victims, witness and perpetrators of human rights violations. Statements will be in English or local languages, as required
· Show respect and professionalism to all persons interviewed
· Work in close collaboration with regional TRRC office staff to ensure statement-taking procedures are adapted to individual and community needs
· Work in close collaboration with local NGOs, social workers and other community focal points to facilitate psycho-social and other support services
· As needed, assist other members of the Research and Investigations Unit in coding statements
· As needed, assist other members of the Research and Investigations Unit in data analysis
· As needed, assist in outreach, communication and educative activities of the TRRC

Media Advisory
Mansour Jobe is TRRC’s Deputy Director of Research and Investigations
Acting in accordance with section 24(1) of the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission Act, 2017, the Executive Secretary of the TRRC has appointed Mr. Mansour Jobe Deputy Director of the Commission’s Research and Investigations Unit. Mr. Jobe is a lawyer and State Counsel at the Attorney General’s Chambers and Ministry of Justice in Banjul. He will be seconded to the TRRC during his period of employment with the Commission.
Mansour Jobe just completed his Master of Laws (LLM) degree in Human Rights Law from the University of Nottingham in the UK and holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Igbinedion University in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He completed his Bar Finals (BL) from the Gambia Law School in 2014 and eventually enrolled as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of The Gambia.
As a State Counsel, Mr. Jobe proffered legal opinion on various issues to different government institutions and departments, as well as prosecuted cases before the subordinate and superior courts of The Gambia. He undertook legal research on behalf of the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and mentored junior Counsel and interns at the Ministry of Justice on legal research and the general practice of law. He was a co-Counsel to the Commission of Inquiry set up to look into the financial dealings of the former president and his close associates before he left in September 2017 to pursue a Master’s Degree at Nottingham.
Mr. Jobe also served as Secretary to the Board of Directors of the National Agency Against Trafficking in Persons (NAATIP) and was a part-time lecturer at the Gambia Technical Training Institute (GTTI), where he taught Criminal Law, Law of Evidence and Employment Law. He was the coordinator of the GTTI Law Programme during the 2016/2017 academic year. Mr Jobe also lectured Business Law and the Law of Banking at the Institute of Bankers of The Gambia. Prior to being a lawyer, Mr. Jobe was a legal clerk at the Basansang Chambers and later became an Administration Officer at Gamstar Insurance Company.
Reacting to his appointment, Mr. Jobe said he is “very pleased” to be appointed Deputy Director of Research and Investigations for the TRRC: “I am looking forward to execute my functions with utmost diligence and professionalism in order to deliver the mandate of the Commission,” he said. “The task ahead is no doubt daunting, but together we will successfully investigate and establish an accurate and impartial historical record of human rights violations under the review period.”

TERMS OF REFERENCE FOR DESIGN OF OFFICIAL LOGO AND DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF SIGNBOARDS FOR THE GAMBIA TRUTH, RECONCILIATION AND REPARATIONS COMMISSION (TRRC)
Background
In December 2017, the National Assembly of The Gambia passed an Act to establish a Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission (TRRC) mandated to investigate and establish an impartial historical record of the nature, causes and extent of violations and abuses of human rights committed during the period of July 1994 to January 2017 and to consider the granting of reparations to victims and for connected matters.
This is a call for proposals for individual artists of Gambian nationality to firstly, design the official logo and signboards of the TRRC, and secondly, upon the notification of a successful application, to construct signboards for the TRRC.

Design Objectives
As the face of the TRRC, the logo shall reflect the themes of truth, reconciliation and reparations. It will form as part of the identity for the TRRC. The logo shall be utilized on all promotional materials, official documentation and publications of the TRRC and will be showcased during TRRC events.
As is the norm, the signboards shall be used to clearly indicate the location of the TRRC alongside roads and foot paths.
Scope of work – Phase 1 (Design)
Applicants shall submit a design proposal, which must include a technical and financial section, namely:
1. Applicant’s curriculum vitae or biographic note (including qualifications and professional work experience)
2. An electronic version and hard copy of the designs of the logo and signboards, namely;
• Logo and signboard design concepts in PDF, JPG, JPEG and PNG
• A brief description of how each logo was developed- what characteristics, values and messages it imparts.
• An explanation of how the logo promotes the mandate of the TRRC.
3. A breakdown of the cost of designing the logo and the signboards, as well as the construction of the signboards.
A maximum of 4 logos and 3 signboard designs may be submitted per proposal.
Scope of Work – Phase 2 (Construction)
The successful applicant will be required to construct the signboards post selection of their designs for the TRRC logo and signboards.
Signboard specifications
• Two iron directional signs (2mx1m)
• Two iron directional signs (70cmx70cm)
• One plexiglass sign (3mx1m)
Amendments to proposals
Without any extra charge, the Secretariat of the TRRC shall be allowed to revise the initial concepts for the logo and signboards within an agreed timeframe with the successful contractor.
Evaluation of designs
Reviews and selection shall be conducted by an Evaluation Committee consisting of the TRRC Secretariat, Ministry of Justice, Victim’s Centre and the UN.
Marks will be appointed on the following basis:
a. Technical Criteria - 70% (thematic/subject Relevance 20%, design originality and creativity 20%, usability of the logo 20%, applicant’s profile (Experience & Qualification) 10%)
b. Financial Criteria weight - 30%

Payment schedule
Full payment will be made to the successful applicant after the final submission of the logo and construction of the signboards.

About this position
The TRRC is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Women’s Affairs Coordinator. This position will support the Secretariat and Commissioners in ensuring that the perspectives and experiences of women and girls crosscut all operations and outputs of the TRRC. The Women’s Affairs Coordinator will work across various operational units of the TRRC to ensure the full inclusion of women and girls in all relevant aspects our work. The Women’s Affairs Coordinator position further includes a special focus on matters pertaining to sexual and gender-based violence. The Women’s Affairs Coordinator will report directly to the Deputy Executive Secretary and work in close collaboration with all members of the commission, as necessary.
Duties and responsibilities
• Support the Commission in ensuring priorities, activities, outputs and strategic objectives of the Commission are inclusive of and responsive to women’s perspectives and issues pertaining to gender equality.
• Provide advice and capacity building to Secretariat and Commissioners on gender related issues and women’s perspectives.
• Ongoing assessments and problem-solving of the challenges to gender equality in relation to the Commission’s activities and its possible impacts on the work of the Commission.
• Organize and coordinate ongoing consultations on gender related issues with women’s groups, social workers, community focal points, international actors, NGOs and the victims’ community.

Position requirements
• Have a University Degree in social sciences, law, psychology, social work, community development, gender studies, or a related discipline (5 years of relevant work experience may be considered as replacement for a university degree).
• At least 5 years of professional experience focused on women’s rights and gender perspectives in a sector relevant to the work of the TRRC (i.e. human rights, academia, law, social work, government, community development, psychology, etc.).
• Experience in research and/or policy analysis related to gender and women’s rights.
• Demonstrated deep understanding of cultural and other sensitivities surrounding access to justice and support for survivors of sexual and gender-based violence.

Background
In December 2017, The Gambia’s National Assembly passed an Act to establish a Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission mandated to investigate and establish an impartial historical record of the nature, causes and extent of violations and abuses of human rights committed during the period July 1994 to January 2017 and to consider the granting of reparations to victims and for connected matters.
Duties and responsibilities
Taking statements from victims, perpetrators, witnesses and experts is the primary research method of the TRRC. Statement taking will be conducted in both English and local languages at commission headquarters and in regional offices. In some cases, statement taking will also be conducted by mobile teams. Statement taking methodologies will be adapted to local considerations to ensure TRRC work does not negatively disrupt community dynamics or expose victims who may be at risk of stigmatization or perpetrator retaliation. Precautions will be taken to ensure that the safety and wellbeing of victims is a paramount priority during statement taking, particularly when victims testify on sexual violence, forced HIV treatments and other potentially stigmatizing human rights violations. In some cases, minors who are victims of human rights violations may also give statements to the TRRC but this will require statement takers to receive specific training on child protection and child-appropriate interview techniques.
Statement takers will report to the Head of the Research and Investigations Unit
Duties and responsibilities
• Participate in required trainings on use of statement taking questionnaires and interview protocol
• Take statements in the form of narrative interviews from victims, witness and perpetrators of human rights violations. Statements will be in English or local languages, as required

The Director of Human Resources will oversee and manage all TRRC staff by working with other relevant members of the Commission on all matters related to the commission’s human resources. Victim Support Coordinator
Duties and responsibilities
Victims and survivors of human rights violations are at the centre of all aspects of the TRRC work. The wellbeing, safety and protection of victims is a paramount concern of the Commission. The Victim Support Coordinator will be responsible for organizing the logistics and daily management of all aspects of the TRRC work pertaining to the well-being and safety of victims and survivors of human rights violations. The Victim Support Coordinator will work in close coordination with the TRRC Secretariat and the Commissioners to ensure victims can benefit from effective and well-coordinated support services. The successful Victim Support Coordinator will show empathy and adaptability in all aspects of this work.
The Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring victims can reliably access social workers, counsellors and other support workers. This will involve extensive collaboration with existing civil society networks and state institutions at the local, national and international levels. In some cases, this will also include collaboration with traditional, religious, community leaders and other trusted members of local communities. When needed, the Coordinator will also work closely with the TRRC witness protection services and law enforcement agencies to help ensure the physical safety of victims and those close to them.
The Victim Support Coordinator will further contribute to the outreach work of the TRRC with the victims’ community and victims’ associations and centers. This includes consulting with victims about their needs and expectations and adapting TRRC support services accordingly. The Coordinator will also assist victims and their representatives in communicating concerns, expectations and needs of victims to other relevant parties within the TRRC.

Reconciliation Officer
Duties and responsibilities
Reconciliation Officers will assist communities and citizen groups in designing and implementing reconciliation, memorialization and peacebuilding initiatives and events. They will work in coordination with community leaders, the victim community, local NGOs, youth and women leaders, traditional and religious leaders, and other citizen groups. They will work with TRRC staff and relevant local actors to ensure reconciliation initiatives and events are fully inclusive and are well-adapted to local considerations. They will facilitate conversations at all levels of society to promote peace and civic awareness in support of the TRRC’s public empowerment and Never Again campaign.
Reconciliation Officers’ work will be informed by community consultation and a thorough understanding of local community dynamics. A significant part of this position will be conducted in local languages and at the regional and/or community level. In coordination with the Communication and Outreach Unit, Reconciliation Officers will support broader outreach, awareness raising and communication work of the TRRC as a Commission representative at the local and regional levels.
Reconciliation Officers will be guided by a “do not harm” approach. They will strive to ensure the safety and well-being of all citizens in the course of their duties. This requires all activities be informed by a context-specific risk and opportunity assessment.

Communications Officer: Community Outreach Coordinator
About this position
The community outreach coordinator will be a communications officer within the Communications, Outreach and Media Unit. This unit is responsible for building and maintaining an open channel for dialogue between the TRRC and the Gambian population. It will serve as the public face of the TRRC and be responsible for communicating the work, updates and findings of the Commission to the public through available media outlets including radio, television and online. The Unit will also liaise with journalists covering the work of the Commission.
Additionally, the Outreach and Media team will, in conjunction with other units of the Commission, be responsible for organizing and publicizing public hearings of the TRRC. This will include for organizing public hearings and events in all regions. The Community Outreach Coordinator will organize the public events and educational activities of the TRRC. This work will be conducted in close collaboration with civil society actors and will aim to promote reconciliation, dialogue, memorialization and learning about the past. Public events may include music, art shows, theatre, film screenings, vigils or prayers, community town halls, educational, religious or cultural events, or any other format meaningful to TRRC constituents.
Communication Officers report directly to the Head of the Communications, Outreach and Media Unit.

• Help implement the TRRC communication and outreach strategy in consultation with Commissioners and other senior staff.

The full involvement of children and youth in the work of the TRRC is central to the goal of ‘Never Again’ experiencing dictatorship or gross violations of human rights in The Gambia. The Youth and Children’s Network Coordinator is responsible for organizing and implementing outreach work of the TRRC involving children and youth. In this role, the Coordinator will facilitate ongoing dialogue between young Gambians and the TRRC. As the lead person developing and implementing outreach activities with young Gambians, the Coordinator will consult widely with young leaders and groups to develop outreach projects with full participation of these young actors. The Coordinator will be committed to inclusivity, ensuring all initiatives strive for full inclusion of minority groups, young women and girls, and vulnerable groups.
The Coordinator will take a lead role managing and expanding the already established Children’s Network on Transitional Justice in schools across the country. This work will be done in close collaboration with student groups, educators, school principals and other key actors in education administration (i.e. MOBSE, University of The Gambia, National Youth Council, Child Protection Alliance, Activista, Peace Ambassadors, etc.). The Coordinator will assist the TRRC in developing civic education initiatives and materials targeting children and youth and disseminated at formal and informal educational facilities.
The Youth and Children’s Network Coordinator will report directly to the Executive Secretary.
Duties and responsibilities
• Coordinate with relevant TRRC staff to develop outreach, communication and educational materials and initiatives tailored to children and youth.
• Work in close collaboration with diverse child, youth and students’ groups, child and youth focused NGOs, and other relevant partners.
• Manage and expand the Children’s Network on Transitional Justice.
• Work in close collaboration with educators and education administrators.
• Lead the design, production and dissemination of high quality outreach and educational materials pertaining to the work and findings of the TRRC.
• Operate in accordance with child protection principles and ensure the best interest of children and youth participants guide all operations.
• Participate in required trainings on transitional justice, youth empowerment, child protection and other topics, as necessary.
• As needed, coordinate with relevant TRRC Units to ensure children and youth concerns, expectations and perspectives are taken into account in all aspects of commission work.
• Work as a collaborative and supportive team member.
Requirements for appointment
A candidate must:-
• Have at least 5 years of untarnished professional experience in youth work, community mobilization, education or related.
• Have a relevant university qualification (i.e. social work, education, social sciences, community development) or relevant experience
• Be an active member of Gambian civil society with a clear record of positive impact on issues pertaining to children and youth. Experience working with the Gambian education system is considered a strong asset.
• Demonstrated experience leading outreach, sensitization and mobilization work with children and youth.
• Demonstrated knowledge of a transitional justice approach and of the Gambian transitional justice process, specifically.
• Demonstrated knowledge of child protection principles and experience applying these principles to programming.
• Ability to lead the design, production and dissemination of high quality outreach and educational materials.
• Have excellent interpersonal, networking and communication skills;
• Must be able to show respect and professionalism to persons from all backgrounds, age, genders and life experiences.
• Have good English language skills. Proficiency in local language(s) is a strong asset.
• Be result oriented with the ability to multi-task;
• Not have been involved in, or associated with, any questionable activity or matter connected to the subject matter of the Commission’s mandate.

TRRC commissioner selection process to start this week
The process for the selection and nomination of regional commissioners will across the country this week, according to a media advisory issued by the TRRC Secretariat. The process will run from 20th June to 16th July. In preparation for the beginning of the process, Justice Minister Abubacarr Tambadou, alongside senior officials of the Justice ministry and Dr. Baba Galleh Jallow, Executive Secretary of the TRRC met Regional Governors in Banjul last week to discuss the process and related logistics.
In conversation with the governors, Minister Tambadou emphasized the need for all parties involved in the impending process – governors, chiefs, Alkalis, and Regional Selection Panel (RSP) members – to properly understand and take time to explain the context and objectives of the TRRC to communities. “It is extremely important that the inclusive nature of the whole process and our desire for the process to be owned by the Gambian people be understood by all Gambian communities,” Minister Tambadou told the governors.
As we recall, in 2017 a national consultation tour was organized by the Ministry of Justice in partnership with several stakeholders in the country. During that consultation exercise, the general public expressed their views and opinions on how the TRRC should be constituted. Their views were incorporated both in the drafting of the TRRC Bill and in the formation of the technical committee on transitional justice which, among other things, has been involved in the drafting of a national strategy document for The Gambia’s transitional justice process. The idea of regional selection and nomination of commissioners from all parts of the country also came out of those national consultations. This culture of inclusivity continues to drive Gambia’s transitional justice and TRRC process and distinctly sets it apart from many truth commission processes around the world.
The process for the selection and nomination of regional commissioners will start on Wednesday 20th June with advance community radio sensitization programmes to be conducted by each governor assisted by two chiefs from their regions. A one-hour programme per day in two to three community radio stations in each region will be conducted in local languages on Wednesday, 20th June, Thursday, 21st June and Friday, 22nd June. During these programmes, the governors and chiefs will explain to their communities the context, purpose, and expected nature and outcomes of the nomination process at the district and regional levels. These radio sensitization programmes will highlight the importance of local communities understanding the guidelines and criteria for the selection of regional commissioners and the overall coordinating role of the governors in the process.
These community radio engagements will be followed on Monday 25th June by meetings at governors’ places to select members of the Regional Selection Panels (RSPs). Representatives from all districts in every region will converge at the regional headquarters to participate in the selection of members of the RSPs. Each seven-member RSP must include at least one representative from youth groups, women’s groups, civil society organisations, non-governmental organisations working in the field of human rights, religious groups, and community leaders resident and working within the regions. All members of the RSPs must be residents of the region with high moral character and integrity, no criminal record or involvement in past human rights violations, no known involvement in a political party, and be of Gambian nationality. Chiefs will be invited to attend these RSP selection meetings to enable them to participate in and learn more about the process with a view to helping further sensitize Alkalis and communities in their districts. The Alkalis in turn will share as much of this information as possible with their village communities. This will serve as a second layer of community sensitization on the region-wide selection and nomination process. A follow-up meeting between each governor and their RSPs will be held on Wednesday, 27th June. At these meetings the governors will discuss with the RSPs their terms of reference and the guidelines for the selection of regional commissioners. The governors will make hard copies of the guidelines which will be handed over to each member of the RSPs for ease of reference and further study.
The actual district level consultation and nomination process by the RSPs in each region will run from 28th June – 9th July. Each RSP is required to travel to and hold meetings with inhabitants of each district in their region between 28th June and 9th July, and preferably by consensus, to secure two nominations from each district, one male, one female. In the event of a deadlock at the district level, the two nominated candidates shall be selected through community voting by a show of hands.
After consultations in all districts, the RSPs will spend the 10th and 11th July to deliberate and select three final regional nominees including at least one female for possible appointment from among the three majority ethnic groups in the region. No more than one candidate from each of the three majority ethnic groups in a region shall be nominated from a region. Each RSP will submit its report alongside the names of the three final nominees from their region to the governors no later than 11th July. According to the guidelines for the selection and appointment of commissioners, nominations to serve as a regional commissioner on the TRRC shall be based on high moral character and integrity; no criminal record or involvement in past human rights violations; not known to be actively involved in a political party; residency in the region; and Gambian nationality.
After the conclusion of the regional nomination process for all regions, the governors will have 12th – 16th July to finalize and submit the list of three nominated candidates to the Ministry of Justice with a report identifying members of the Regional Selection Panel and certifying that the nomination process complied with the aforesaid procedures. The list of three nominees from each region shall contain the following information about each nominated candidate: full name and current address, age, gender, ethnicity, religion, educational background, occupation, employment history, and short notes of no more than 500 words (type-written) stating the reasons for the person’s suitability for appointment as commissioner to the TRRC in light of its mandate and objectives. Meanwhile, the selection of commissioners for the Greater Banjul Area will proceed from nominations received back in February 2018.
“We will re-publish the guidelines for the selection and appointment of commissioners sometime this week to refresh the public memory,” said Dr. Baba Galleh Jallow, Executive Secretary of the TRRC. “Meanwhile, we call upon all Gambians to actively participate in this important process and ensure that they are well represented on the commission,” he added.
