Thanks for the article. I agree with the author that 1970 should be the year of independence.

The British Queen was head of state and we had a prime minister until April 24th 1970 when we had a president.

Please, can you explain. If The Gambia became a republic in 1970, but gained independence 1965; what was Gambia between these years - a kingdom?? |
