The support came after the Pirang ward councilor submitted a request to the Council to support the women.

Chief executive officer, Modou Jonga said the support is one of their strategic priorities as enshrined in their strategic blueprint 2020 to 2024.

He said they hope that the support will address water shortage and minimise loss of garden crops.

Assistant secretary of the women gardeners, Mariama Ceesay thanked the council for the gesture, saying it will immensely help them in sustaining the garden and their crops.

According to her, there are 325 women as members of the garden.

Ward councilor, Lamin Dibba said women are not back sitters in the Brikama Area Area Council and that is why they are always ready to help them.

Alkalo of Pirang Berending, Malain Touray and chairman of the Village Development Committee, Baba Bojang both thanked the council for the support.
