GAMBIAN CULTURAL WEEK, COPENHAGEN August 2009


The Gambian Association in Denmark held its annual Gambian Cultural Week in Copengen from August 13th, to August 15th, 2009. This year's event lasted for three days and was attended by Gambian Organizations from Oslo (Norway), Hamburg (Germany), Malmö (Sweden), Gothenburg (Sweden) and Stockholm.
The main events had been childrens party on thursday August 13th followed by "Sabarr" (Drum-beating) on Friday August 14th at Sankt Hans Torv in the Nørrebro district of Copenhagen. There were football matches between the various Gambian football teams from Sweden, Germany and Denmark with womens rounders and liliput football on Saturday August 15th followed by a grand closing ceremony with Musicians Mam Tamsir Njai (Gambia), Kumba Laubeh (Senegal), DJ Corra (Germany) and DJ King Arthur (Denmark).
