A fatal accident has claimed the lives of two people on the spot, with 36 others seriously injured and hospitalised.

The accident that happened on the Banjul Highway, shortly after the state central prison, Mile 2 also involved two National Assembly members, police say. The duo were equally hospitalised.

According to the police, the accident happened when Hon. Baba Galleh Jallow of Sanementerang had his car collided with Hon. Saikou Jarju of Busumbala who was driving on a slow lane decided to shift to the high lane in, which his colleague was driving on.

The police spokesperson confirmed that the cars collided and as a result, both somersaulted and caused damages.

The PRO of RVTH Momodu Lamin Jammeh has also confirmed to this paper that the two had died on the spot with 36 seriously injured.

Meanwhile, the leader of the United Democratic Party (UDP) has visited the victims admitted at the hospital and promised to send a delegation to sympathise with the families of those who have lost their loved ones.
